Mebetoys Model #A-44, Bertone Runabout

The Bertone Runabout was another prototype car that was first shown at the 1969 Turin Motor Show and was used as the starting point for the design of the Fiat X1/9. It used a Fiat 128 engine but Bertone announced it as the Autobianchi A112 Runabout. This Mebetoys series model appeared in 1971. It first appeard in the 1971 Mebetoys catalog as a Mebetoys Serie 800 model. After 1972 some of the Mebetoys version of this model (#A-44) were packaged in the third generation European package that had the Gran Toros name on the sticker but they were not Hot Wheels Gran Toros models (Sputafuoco).
